Location description

Glasgow's Riverside Museum of Transport is one of Scotland's most striking examples of contemporary architecture, designed by Zaha Hadid and opened in 2011. The building's dramatic zigzag roofline and enormous glass façade are a photography drawcard. The Tall Ship Glenlee moored alongside is reflected in the building at the right angle and can present its own photo opportunities, too. Ample parking is available, or a walk along the river from the SEC campus or city offers multiple other photo locations.

Shooting notes

Sunrise and early morning sessions are rewarding as the low sun creates fun contrast and reflections. Try also in B/W with a polarising filter on a clear sky day to get a dramatic image. A wide-angle lens captures the full scrawled appearance of building’s zigzag profile. Dramatic or clear skies can add considerable impact to your shot. Getting low can be beneficial too with the lines of the paving in the foreground.
