Edinburgh | South Edinburgh, South EastScotland

Location description

From the Braid Hills rise on Edinburgh’s southern side, the whole city arranges itself in front of you. The lookout is aptly named the Seven Hills Viewpoint as from here you can take in each of the city’s resplendent peaks. Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town ridge sit in the middle distance, with the Firth of Forth and Fife coast beyond. Easily accessed with a moderate hike from nearby Morningside, or parking can be found at Braid Hills Golf Club.

Shooting notes

This north-facing vista suits spring through autumn seasons to make the most of the layered greenery. A long lens is essential to compress the distance between you and the city centre. Use the trig point marker at the top of the hill to steady your camera if needed. There are plenty of angles to try from this 360 degree lookout, or simply take in the spectacular view.
