Descripción de la ubicación

On a gable end at the corner of Ferry Road and North Junction Street, the Leith History Mural covers an entire building wall with a dense tableau celebrating the area’s working past. Large painted murals on buildings are commonplace in Glasgow, yet almost unheard of in Edinburgh, making this one all the more special. Created in the 1980s and painted by artists Tim Chalk and Paul Grime, the mural has weathered into a poignant record of a once-thriving port. This is an easy roadside subject off Ferry Road or easily accessed via the city bike paths near the Great Junction St. exit.

Notas de disparo

Workable in any season and best in flat, even daylight that renders the colours without harsh shadow. Overcast, hazy sky or even when the sun dips behind a cloud can be the best way to shoot this to get true colours in your edit. Step back and shoot level to avoid perspective distortion. There is plenty room in the area next to the mural to take the shot without getting in anyone’s way. Close ups can be fun to take too.
