Description du lieu
This small causeway bridge at Belhaven Beach, near the town of Dunbar, becomes partially submerged at high tides, earning it the name ‘ The Bridge to Nowhere’. This shot is taken from the edge of the beach - right next to the carpark, so there’s no trekking involved to get the shot.
Notes de prise de vue
Timing your visit with the tide is critical here — it is only at higher tides (around 4-5m) where the bridge is presented in this way. A late evening/sunset session works well as the camera faces north-east, so the bridge catches the evening light. Use a sturdy tripod as the beach surface can be uneven, and it can be a windy location. Exposures of 10–15 seconds or more using ND filters will smooth the water nicely and draw focus to the bridge.
