Location description

Flagstaff Hill is located directly to the west of Kingston Pier and Norfolk’s original landing place. It's probably the harder location to get to on this list, however, a short walk up the Hill’s wooded ridge leads to the lookout and reveals a commanding vantage point over Kingston Pier, the Old Town and along the reef to Point Hunter. There is a walkway all the way to the lookout as well as a halfway point platform too which is worth the slight detour.

Shooting notes

This shot was taken on a day when the ship was being unloaded, people were surfing, fishing, touring and Kingston was a hive of activity. This helps the shot have character, however the view over Kingston from Flagstaff can also have an eerie and beautiful quality in low light at either end of the day.
